BFF Pass League

BFF Pass League

BFF Pass League is a casual, cooperative sports system lending structure to a friendly game of pass. It involves a series of baseball, football, and flying disc (BFF) passes over 3 increasing distances.

SETUP
  1. Find at least one friend willing to have a sports-based passing match with you.
  2. Find a flat, open area large enough to support the match. A large yard or public park, ideally short grass, should be suitable.
  3. Get 4 objects to serve as placeholders on the field.
  4. Place the first marker on the ground.
  5. Using a tape measure, place the next marker 20 feet away from the first.
  6. Continuing in a row, place the next marker at 40 feet and the last at 60 feet from the first.
  7. Get a baseball, football, and flying disc (BFF) to pass. The baseball pass can optionally include additional equipment like baseball gloves to catch with.
  8. You are now ready to start your BFF Pass League match!

PLAY
  1. The baseball pass is first so have one player stand at the first marker with a baseball.
  2. Have the second player stand at the second marker and prepare to catch the first pass.
  3. Player 1 should toss the baseball to player 2. Player 2 may abandon their marker to perform the catch.
  4. If player 2 catches the ball before it hits the ground, it is a successful catch. Place an X in the first box, next to the first (0) in the baseball section, on the scorecard. If the ball hits the ground, place an O in the box.
  5. Both players should return to their markers and player 2 can toss the ball back to player 1. This time, score an X/O in the box just under that first box, next to the first (1).
  6. Continue this pass, scoring the success/failure of each catch, until each player has thrown the ball 5 times.
  7. Write the total number of successful catches in the big box to the right of this block of 10 boxes.
  8. Player 2 should advance to the second marker, at 40 feet, and the players repeat the pass at this new distance. Scores should go into the boxes underneath the first set of boxes.
  9. After 5 passes each (10 total throws) marker 2 is clear. Write the total catches in the big box and advance player 2 to the third marker, at 60 feet.
  10. Repeat the process for this 3rd marker. Once this 3rs marker is complete, the baseball pass is complete.
  11. In the 4 boxes at the end of the baseball section, put the score from marker 1 in the first box. In the second box, multiply the score from marker 2 by 2 and write the result. The third box should get the score from marker 3 times 3.
  12. Finally, add up these 3 scores and put that total in the last box. That is the final score of the baseball pass. A perfect score here would be 60.
  13. Repeat the whole process using a football to pass. Scoring will go in the football section.
  14. Repeat the whole process passing a flying disc. Scores go in the flying disc section.
  15. You have completed your BFF Pass Leauge match having thrown 45 times and caught 45 times!
  16. Add the 3 scores from the 3 sections and place the result in the box labeled "MATCH" at the bottom of the scorecard.
  17. Both players recieve this same score. A perfect match score, with no dropped passes, would be 180.
  18. For reference, record the names of the two players in the (0) and (1) spots in the bottom-left.
  19. Also for reference, you can record the date and location in the remaining spots in the bottom-right.
  20. Recruit other friends to play so you can accumulate your score over a series of matches before determining a league champion. Every player should play every other player before finalizing these league tallies.
  21. Have fun!
